Mission: 'Own' the Tate

Centrica Gala Evening

The brief was for an intimate evening of entertainment for the top corporate customers of the UK’s largest energy provider. The client team had selected the vast Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern gallery as their venue. It’s stunning, but it’s not intimate.
I had two big ideas. One was to make sense of linking the venue and the utility brand via a unifying theme of ‘Art & Energy’.
The second was to create a gigantic banner that served as a performance backdrop and projection surface. It visually defined a more personal space. The banner also providing a powerful and memorable branded ‘ownership’ of the impressive venue.
