An evolving brief and varying budget, for the world’s highest-profile event, built 30m in the air on top of Europe’s largest shopping centre. How hard can it be?
Well, there was the complexity of the brief. There were the transatlantic flights to persuade the Board of our direction... the presentations throughout Silicon Valley to secure the co-sponsorship funding, the need to commence building before we’d finished designing, the coaxing of one last take from Stephen Fry…
But then there was also the inspiring breakthrough: let’s not try to sell routers and switches, let’s talk about the amazing potential of technology to transform... everything! And the guests’ delighted reactions.  And the awards.
